15: 30-18: 00 Thematic subcommittee (target: immigrants only)
■ Subcommittee 1 "Social Participation of Foreign Residents" (Target: Members Only)
I think it is new to remember that in December 2021, the draft of the Musashino City Basic Residents Ordinance, which allowed the participation of foreign residents with the same requirements as Japanese residents, was rejected.
It has been 70 years since the Japanese nationality of former colonial people who were Japanese was unilaterally deprived. Despite the increase in the number of newcomer foreigners who have newly arrived in Japan after the war and the number of foreigners born in Japan, the social participation of foreign residents, such as local suffrage and the appointment of civil servants, has not progressed slowly, but rather eliminated. The movement to do it is in progress.
In order to build a truly "living together" society, I would like to share with the participants the current situation and issues, and while referring to the situation in other countries, think about how to promote social participation. increase.
■ Subcommittee 2 "Issues concerning learning and careers of immigrant children and young people" (Target: Members only)
We will report on the efforts of children residing in "family stay" etc. regarding problems that are not covered by the scholarship. In addition, although there are large disparities in each region, we will share the current situation by focusing on the low remuneration and disparities in the cost of educational interpreters. In addition, we will organize approaches to issues that have not been resolved in each region as central issues and discuss future initiatives.
■ Subcommittee 3 "Issues and Empowerment on Immigrant Women's Rights" (Target: Members Only)
In 2021, a Sri Lankan woman, Wishmasandamari, who was a victim of domestic violence, was left unattended for medical treatment and died in an immigration detention center without receiving relief from the victims of domestic violence. In addition, the incidents surrounding the pregnancy and childbirth of technical intern trainees are not followed.
Here are some of the recent challenges in immigrant women's rights, including domestic violence, pregnancy and childbirth, aging and empowerment of migrant women. After sharing the issues at the plenary session, we will be divided into four thematic groups to share information on each region and discuss necessary initiatives.
